Company history

A team of researchers at Applied Physics and Electronics (TFE) Umea University in Sweden, under the guidance of the world famous Professor Haibo Li, have for several years been working on new algorithms for essentially improved face recognition accuracy aimed not only for high resolution images but for typical web images with low resolution and large variations in pose and illumination. Working closely to prof. Li in this area, researcher Hung-Son Le has introduced a HMM based approach that is efficient over a wide range of variations. This work by Dr. Le was an important milestone for the research team.

Wawo Technology AB, Sweden, is a new start-up based on this research. The company was founded in 2008 and is privately owned by the founders and researchers.

During the 2008 - 2010, Wawo Technology released new algoritms and a SDK with outstanding face recognition performance.
